Where Everybody Knows Your (Son’s) Name
“Hello, Thomas. How’s it going?”
This is the personalized hello that my son hears when he walks into CEL. It’s simple — and it’s truly what sets them apart.
Hearing our son greeted by name and asked about himself by staff who genuinely care— as a parents of a son with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities, we can tell you that is a rare experience.
We all want to be known for who we are and appreciated as an individual. To be surrounded by people who care about us and who see us for our abilities. We all deserve that human connection.
We all deserve to feel like we belong.
At CEL, Thomas is welcomed and a part of something. He’s out in the community. He volunteers and gives back. He spends time with friends. Did you know that for many CEL members, this is their only source of connection to people they don’t live with? CEL even helped Thomas find a job he loves and provides the support he needs to continue succeeding.
CEL empowers Thomas to enjoy life with dignity, meaning, friends, and purpose. That is why we are asking you to join me in supporting these vital programs today.
In a state that ranks 49th in services for people with developmental disabilities, CEL is a rare bright spot – but these programs simply aren’t possible without donor support – without your support.
When you give to CEL, you make a profound difference in Thomas’ life and ensure these programs can serve those who need them the most. Please give today and know that you are building a better tomorrow for our son and so many others.
Thank you,
Suzanne and Rob Aaron, CEL Parents
