Simple Bequest

Simple Bequest: include a gift to CEL in your will or living trust. You can specify a particular dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or a specific asset.

Example Language: “I give, devise, and bequeath to CEL, located at 280 Saunders Rd., the sum of $____ (or ____% of my estate) for its general purposes.”

Bequest option include:

  • Portfolio/Stock (appreciated for at least 1 year)
  • Donor Advised Fund
  • Cash or % of estate

Beneficiary Designations

Retirement Accounts: Name CEL as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or other retirement accounts. This can provide significant tax benefits to your estate.

Life Insurance Policies: Designate CEL as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, creating a substantial future gift at a relatively low cost.

Charitable Trusts

Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT): Transfer assets into a trust that provides you (and potentially other beneficiaries) with income for life or a term of years. The remainder of the trust then goes to CEL.

Charitable Lead Trust (CLT): Place assets in a trust that provides income to CEL for a specified period, after which the remaining assets are transferred to your beneficiaries, potentially reducing gift and estate taxes.

Gifts of Real Estate

Retained Life Estate: Donate your home or other property to CEL while retaining the right to live there for the rest of your life. You receive an immediate tax deduction, and the property passes to us upon your death.

2. Inform Us: Let us know about your intentions so we can ensure your wishes are honored and recognize your generosity if you choose.
